SILENT MIND

South Coast Martial Arts school is a family run facility founded in 1993 that features various training & fighting areas for Boxing, Kickboxing, Wushu, King Fu, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, acrobatics and more.  Instructors and trainers teach kids & adults of all ages the traditional principles that strengthen the body, mind, and spirit.  Learning to master the mind leads to a greater understanding of the world around us.  With a creative and visually compelling concept, we wanted to shoot an ad that left people spellbound, drawing viewers into a world they too could adopt.

EVOLUTION

Imagine slowing present time to a crawl and exploring this world. I aimed to couple our action with big moves, while rolling in super-slow-motion; however, the camera direction far exceeded our budget.  In this moment I understood how difficult it is for others to grasp the gravity of your ideas.

Repeatedly explaining your vision is draining. An affirmation of understanding and queries suggesting the contrary can become an incessant obstacle. Inevitably the idea evolved into a more realistic depiction, in hopes of penetrating the minds of our audience and imparting the simple core of our message: We can all become something more. You can champion your body. The story we created are mere moments captured while life unfolds, strung together like a mildly comprehensible mind map.

MOMENTS THAT MATTER

The execution of this concept goes beyond verite, the scenes staged were intended to capture and heighten those moments that matter.  Stalling mid-air, floating in the ring, striking beyond limitation, and defining yourself so you can elevate higher than your desires intend.  These fighters and trainers opened themselves to our cameras, so we may for a flash feel alive inside their world.

SPS "The Perfect World"

Student Planning Services' one-stop shop that delivers an “academic advisor” to students of all ages.  Today, the complex college admissions process can be a lonely & daunting face-off for any high school student.  SPS’ seasoned professionals implement targeted solutions to manage the gaps that plague high school and college scholars.  They create customized action plans with measurable millstones, assessments, support, interventions, and adjustments to enable a student to achieve their educational & personal goals.

The brand is a relatively new one and has remained a secret passed from parent to parent.  They came to us in 2013 having successfully led just a few high schools students to college, with the idea of sharing success stories to spark awareness and curiosity.  “The Perfect World” was the product produced from testimonials that identifies the brand and their demonstrated success in simulating the minds of young scholars to drive themselves.

BUILDING THE MESSAGE

Our solution was “The Perfect World” concept – a testimonial style campaign that educates parents and highlights the benefits of the brand.  The shifted tone was a positive one, avoiding negative tropes and presenting a supplemental solution to a growing problem. Joel emphasized a refocused spotlight on the student client, resonating with them and directly addressing their needs

CLIENT + CREATIVE

The stand out feature is their comprehensive Enhanced Academic Program that coaches, tutors, manages, and mentors students through out the college admissions process.  We worked closely with the client to guide the message, introducing talent and creative to realize this gist.  At low cost our demonstrated ability to tailor the production and capture professional interviews pleased the client

THE COLLABORATIVE VISION

Catering to every need is our specialty – service extended.  Working tirelessly to craft the full length and commercial edits in post, delivering on deadline is our promise and collective hours required by this production was no exception.  The end result was a well paced testimonial driven narrative that tells the successful story of the collaborative nature between SPS and their student clients
